Alysia Joy Powell – Judas and the Black Messiah

Alysia Joy Powell is starring as Jake Winter’s mother, Ms. Winters, in the feature film, Judas and the Black Messiah. Her performance has been noted as one of the most important appearances in the film.

Judas and the Black Messiah is an American biographical drama film directed and produced by Shaka King, from a screenplay written by King and Will Berson. It is based on a story by King, Berson, and Kenny and Keith Lucas. The film details the life of Fred Hampton, chairman of the Black Panther Party in the late 1960s and his betrayal at the hands of William O’Neal.

Alysia Joy Powell

Native of Southern California that currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. She realized her childhood dreams of acting, having a 25 year career in Film, TV, and on Stage. She is pursuing her talents behind the camera, as well, as a director and writer. Powell is also working on her One Woman Show, Different Shades of Love, which was featured in the Emerging Artist Festival. She explores her other gifts such as screenwriting, stand up, teaching acting, singing, making jewelry for her jewelry line “MY Diva-Tude” and the designing of her Plus size clothing line “A.Joy”.
