Rapper Cardi B has made it known that she’s a “fashion girl”. She enjoys wearing luxury, referencing the stretch-knit Balenciaga heels in her songs. But she doesn’t limit herself to high-end clothing. She popularly rocks Fashion Nova. So much so, the pair made two collaboration lines in 2018 and 2019. But she expanded her interests with Reebok just last year. It sold out, fast. Now, Reebok and Cardi B reunited to bring the people what they want, new clothes to match with their shoes.
The Clothes
The artist normally rocks glamourous pantsuits and over-the-top ensembles. But now fans get to see her in something more casual. The new Reebok x Cardi B collection features athleisure and activewear. The trend of this style continues to grow as people remain working from home. So what does the line offer? Tops mostly include cropped hoodies, bralettes, and bodysuits. According to the brand, Cardi B had complete control and hand-picked the collection.
The most memorable include the feature of bandage material. The design gives a tighter fit. Plus it could help keep everything in place while working out. The bottoms are only limited to high-rise leggings or joggers. But when the two are paired together, it creates an hourglass frame. So far, the clothing is limited to lilac and black/red colorways.
The Shoes
But the main attraction is filled with color. The two have previously given sneakers in neon colors and red. But now, new shades and styles get some shine. “The collection gives a nod to Cardi’s old stomping grounds, specifically 90s-era carnivals and amusement parks,” said Reebok. The shoes remained on brand, including lilac and black/red hues. But other colors are on display. A classic white and tan shoe is the touch of neutral to the line. But rest assured, there’s still hot pink and lime green included as well. These shades received extended sizes. For added comfort, several of the styles also include thick, rubber soles.
True Inclusion
What also may appeal to customers is its inclusivity. Not only are plus-sized items an option but so are the models on Reebok’s site. It allows customers to envision what the collection actually looks like on someone with a different body type to Cardi. Even the shoes were inclusive. For those unable to tie their shoes, the sneakers have a stretch-laced closure. “Accessibility is clearly important to her, and you can see this everywhere from sizing to price point,” said Reebok Cardi B Footwear Product Manager Molly Kazarian. The line also includes sizes for men, women, and toddlers. This way, the entire family can be laced with the new sneakers. The Reebok x Cardi B collection is available on April 23.
