Discover Germany From Home

The German National Tourist Office, supported by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, held a German Online Press Conference, called Cultural Destination Germany.

The Conference was held by means of a Webinar entitled #DiscoverGermanyFromHome. Due to Covid-19 circumstances, the public is encouraged to visit their microsite.

Great news is the infection rate is low enough to start lifting border checks. However, the border checks with France, Austria and Switzerland continue until June 15, 2020. Regarding the EU’s external borders, the European Commission has recommended continuing restrictions until June 15, 2020.

Among others, the Nature section enables visiting the Island of Langeoog, the Wildlife Park Gustrow or the Moselle Cycle Trail and Europe’s largest mottled sandstone caves!

Below the ruins of the Hohenburg on the Schlossberg are Europe's largest mottled sandstone caves. Mysterious passageways lead visitors to imposing domed halls, which exert a special attraction because of the yellow, red and yellow-red discoloration of the sand. The result is the new red sandstone that forms the ridge above the town of Homburg, before about 250 million years ago.
