5 Quarantine TV Shows Worth to Watch

Nowadays, many of us are finding ourselves with an excess amount of free time. This may result in boredom for many, however there is a way to tackle that. It is the perfect time to watch that show everyone is talking about. Wondering what to watch? We’ve got you covered. Here are some of the newest shows to hit streaming services, all binge worthy in their own way.

1. Outer Banks – Netflix

I think this one has the most hype around it, and honestly I think it’s deserved. Out of all the shows on this list this one had me saying “I wish that was me” over and over again. Outer Banks is an adventure/drama following John B, a teen that lives in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Following his father’s untimely disappearance and assumed death at sea, John B and friends are sent on a treasure hunt trying to find what his dad couldn’t, a shipwreck that allegedly contains millions of dollars in gold. The show is at its best when it’s showcasing the camaraderie between John B and his crew. Their lives are any teens summertime dream and their loyalty in such a high stakes hunt is admirable. From the aesthetic, to the likable characters, to the crazy drama, this was a fun watch and will have you fantasizing about a summer spent in the OBX.

2. Hollywood – Netflix

Show is extremely optimistic and immersive. This miniseries follows the intertwining lives of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Hollywood as they do whatever they can to make their dreams come true. The sets and aesthetic are beautiful and fully transport you into classic Hollywood. This alone will be a welcome departure from the current state of the world. It is certainly fantasy-like and a very idealized depiction of Tinseltown. If you’re seeking a hopeful and easily digestible ending, this is the show for you.

3. Never Have I Ever – Netflix

Never Have I Ever is a high school dramedy that seems silly and light-hearted on the surface but packs a huge emotional punch as it wraps up. It follows Indian American high school student Devi as she attempts to rebound after a rough freshman year. Like any show of its kind, it centers around the typical high school drama, including conflicts with friends and enemies, and a complicated love life. Where it differs from other shows is in the storyline surrounding Devi’s late father. The show excels in portraying the different ways in which Devi deals with her grief along with her social troubles. This added element along with Devi’s complicated relationship with her mother and identity issues balance perfectly with the more light storylines. It is funny and absurd at times but it has heart, making you laugh one minute and tear up the next. Overall, a feel-good show with a fantastic season finale.

4. Little Fires Everywhere – Hulu

An intense watch for sure, this Hulu series covers many serious themes. The show depicts the lives of the Richardson family and the Warrens, a mother and daughter that are new in town and alter their lives. It is carried by great performances from the entire cast, with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington at the center. And of course, Reese and Kerry are great, but the actors that play their children also give spectacular performances. They play off of their on-screen mothers to perfectly showcase the show’s complicated depiction of motherhood. It’s best to go into this one blind, and watch the secrets and lies unravel as the characters do.

5. Money Heist – Netflix

While this show has been around longer than the others, its fourth season was just released in April. Although there are a lot more Money Heist episodes to get through, it is one of the most addicting shows out there. It centers around an ensemble of characters, all recruited by a man that goes by the name of The Professor to pull off the biggest heist in recorded history in the Royal Mint of Spain. With plenty of twists and turns, every episode keeps you on the edge of your seat. You spend most of the show wondering how the gang could possibly get out of each problem thrown their way. The best word to describe it is epic, and the mind-blowing reveals continue to out-do themselves every time. If you haven’t already seen it add it to the top of your list. (P.S. watch it with subtitles not dubbing, it makes it a million times better)
