We are so thrilled to recommend a hilarious film that we loved watching “Maybe I Do”, and are quite confident that you will too! With a gorgeous cast of Richard Gere, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, Emma Roberts, Luke Bracey and William H. Macy; Pop Style TV was lucky enough to sit down and zoom with the legendary Diane Keaton to discuss the film. Keaton was as quirky as ever and seemed to be excited to chat about her co-stars, the film, and even poke a little fun at ME – the interviewer!
A bit about the fun loving film as per the film company- Michelle (Roberts) and Allen (Bracey) have reached the point in their relationship to take the next steps toward marriage. Thinking it is a good idea to invite their parents to finally meet, they set a dinner and make it a family affair. To everyone’s surprise, the affair takes on a whole new meaning as the parents already know each other all too well – they’ve been cheating on their spouses for months…with each other. Trapped in this precarious predicament, they try to hide their dalliances from the kids while confronting their spouse’s lovers head-on. Let the games begin!
As we mention in the interview, the scenario is a bit unlikely, but made for a very entertaining movie! Check out Lauren Conlin’s interview with Diane Keaton, and catch “Maybe I Do” in theaters nationwide on January 27th.
Lauren Conlin:
Hello, Miss Diane Keaton. How are you, gorgeous?
Diane Keaton:
Wow. That’s a whopper. I feel good. Thank you.
Lauren Conlin:
Yes. You’re welcome. Well, you look great. I always love your style, and I always love your hair. Let’s just get that out of the way right now. Okay?
Diane Keaton:
[inaudible 00:00:24]. Hair and makeup, get in here.
Lauren Conlin:
No, really. You have a great look. This movie, Maybe I Do, I mean, this movie is what we needed to get through this year.
Diane Keaton:
You saw it?
Lauren Conlin:
I did.
Diane Keaton:
It’s interesting. Don’t you think?
Lauren Conlin:
I loved it. Yes. Diane, it’s so much fun. Are you kidding?
Diane Keaton:
Yeah.
Lauren Conlin:
The whole premise, it’s slightly unrealistic, right? A little bit.
Diane Keaton:
I’ve done that, sitting in a theater with maybe five people. Have you done that? It’s scarier but I’ve done it and it’s really interesting. I didn’t have anybody sit next to me but then when I walked out, okay, then this movie comes up and I’m doing it. You know? The first thing, taking that walk, it’s so amazing.
Lauren Conlin:
Amazing.
Diane Keaton:
I love it.
Lauren Conlin:
Yes. I mean, the cast, Diane, I mean, you, Richard Gere, you know, I love Emma Roberts. Oh my goodness.
Diane Keaton:
Adorable.
Lauren Conlin:
Adorable. I agree. We’re all adults here, Diane, but I have to ask you, in real life, okay? Who would you rather run off with and get married, Richard Gere or William H. Macy?
Diane Keaton:
That’s not fair.
Lauren Conlin:
Ooh, but we’re all adults, right? We’re all adults.
Diane Keaton:
We’re all adults. I say both of them. I’ll take one on the left and the other on the right.
Lauren Conlin:
Aww.
Diane Keaton:
I’ll shove them together and I’ll have the man of my life.
Lauren Conlin:
That is so sweet. I mean, me, personally, I’d pick Edward from Pretty Woman just because I know what he has to offer. No, I’m just kidding.
Diane Keaton:
[inaudible 00:01:57].
Lauren Conlin:
No. I am. I am.
Diane Keaton:
You should.
Lauren Conlin:
Yeah, but really, tell me about why you think that people should stop and watch this movie Maybe I Do.
Diane Keaton:
I mean, I just like the movie. I mean, when it came to me as just a piece of paper, and all that, and a script, no, I liked it, right up top, front, because it’s really … It’s unique in some form. You know? About what it is to be my age group and also the other younger group and then how it all gelled in together and the families and Susan Sarandon.
Lauren Conlin:
Yeah.
Diane Keaton:
It really is … I think it’s good. I think he did a great job.
Lauren Conlin:
I totally agree with you, and that’s why I mentioned the premise, it’s slightly unrealistic but if this happened, which it absolutely could happen, let’s say one in 100, where parents are actually cheating on each other with … It’s crazy. It’s totally crazy. It’s just the way this whole thing played out with the characters, I loved, it made me feel happy, it made me feel just excited. It gave you all the feels, right?
Now you, yourself, you haven’t had the typical I guess, domestic life, right? You had kids later, you never really settled down, and I love that. I think it’s so empowering and I think it has literally … You’ve really changed the path for women in a way. Do you feel that way or do you feel like, “I just was doing what I felt like”?
Diane Keaton:
Well, let me just say one thing, I love you but I think you’re insane.
Lauren Conlin:
Oh, okay.
Diane Keaton:
I’m kidding. I’m kidding. I feel like … Oh God, can you imagine what it’s really like to be with me? There’s a lot of people there that will tell you what it’s like and what life is like [inaudible 00:03:46].
Lauren Conlin:
I love your candidness.
Diane Keaton:
That’s what’s great about the movie. It’s two people walking suddenly together in the dark of night and they’re screwed up and they’re having issues and it’s … I just love the beginning. I just think it helps the movie all the way through. Don’t you?
Lauren Conlin:
Yes. Yes. Yes. Well, you are, you’re an inspiration to women. I mean, you are literally pretty much one of my favorite actresses and you’re pretty much everyone’s favorite actress, everyone that I know. I mean, I told them I was talking to you and they were like, “Oh my gosh”, so thank you so much.
Diane Keaton:
Tell them I said hi.
Lauren Conlin:
I will. I’ll say Diane Keaton said I was insane, you guys. [inaudible 00:04:28].
Diane Keaton:
I feel the same way about you, you guys.
Lauren Conlin:
Well, thank you so much, Diane Keaton for Pop Style TV.
Diane Keaton:
Thank you. I appreciate that so much.
Lauren Conlin:
Thank you.
Diane Keaton:
I really do. Yeah.
