5 Ways to Celebrate College Graduations This Year

Class of 2021 didn’t have a lockdown, but many weren’t able to return to campus this year. As a result, many also can’t have a traditional commencement. So how do you celebrate the special day? As the special day nears, students might feel limited in their options. But after four or more years, a proper celebration is deserved. So, here’s five ways on how to make this graduation day a memorable one.

Virtual Celebrations

Like last year, many students aren’t able to have in-person ceremonies. Despite the access to vaccines, many states aren’t open to their full capacity in time for graduation. But they don’t need to walk across the stage to celebrate! Many universities opted for virtual options instead. Plus, high-profile guest speakers are still participating. Even if it’s not the graduation they imagined, they still deserve the accolades.

Photoshoots

Who doesn’t love a great photoshoot? Graduation photoshoots go viral every year and this year should be no different. These pictures showcase students more comfortably than professional graduation pictures. Instead, graduates get to express their creativity. From champagne showers to colored smoke bombs, students go all out. Not to mention, who doesn’t want an excuse to add to their Instagram feed?

Celebrity Shout-Outs

If your recent grad has a favorite celebrity, a special shout-out is a memorable present. Many films, shows, and even concerts were cancelled this past year. But many A-listers made themselves accessible to their fans. Cameo offers a service to pay for custom videos from your favorite acts. From Tony Hawk to Ne-yo, you could make someone’s day for as little as $50.

With the ongoing rollout of reopening plans, a getaway could be the perfect graduation gift. Renting a beach house or even a cabin could be the relief needed before entering the workforce. But if you’re looking for attractions, many states continue to widen their restrictions. Many major cities now have opened outdoor features like gardens and indoor options like museums.

Themed Dinners

A graduation-themed dinner could make the day feel worthwhile. You can even add school-themed detailing to the décor. Napkins of your school colors and mini tassels could also make the meal feel special. Plus, graduates should bring their custom grad cap. Not only will they receive an acknowledgment from guests, they just might get a free dessert!
