The Whitney Museum of American Art became “Studio 99,” hosting its annual Art Party in a dazzling, disco-inspired celebration. The event welcomed young patrons, emerging artists, and guests from the worlds of art, fashion, business, philanthropy, and entertainment for an unforgettable evening of music, dancing, and art.

Co-chairs Steven Beltrani, Micaela Erlanger, Alexander Hankin, Christine Sun Kim, and Tabboo! greeted guests as they arrived, while DJ sets by The Muses and Jenny Albright kept the energy high throughout the night.

A key fundraiser for the Museum’s Independent Study Program (ISP), the Art Party raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the renowned postgraduate program. Hosted by the Whitney Contemporaries, proceeds from the event provide vital funding for ISP, which was established in 1968 and remains one of the country’s leading programs in studio art, curatorial studies, and critical studies. Through ISP, the Whitney continues its commitment to supporting living artists at every stage of their careers.

Sponsored by Aesop, Cynthia Rowley, and Maestro Dobel Tequila, the Art Party is a highlight of New York’s arts and philanthropy calendar. Guests gathered in the Museum’s Kenneth C. Griffin Hall for an evening filled with disco-themed décor by Wizard Studios, hors d’oeuvres by Olivier Cheng Catering, and craft cocktails featuring Maestro Dobel Tequila. Attendees also enjoyed exclusive after-hours access to the Museum’s galleries, including a final look at the landmark exhibition Edges of Ailey before it closes on February 9, 2025.

All the guests came in their best disco inspired looks so here is a little taste of the atmosphere and the fashion at the Whitney Art Party

ABOUT THE WHITNEY

The Whitney Museum of American Art, founded in 1930 by the artist and philanthropist Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney (1875–1942), houses the foremost collection of American art from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Mrs. Whitney, an early and ardent supporter of modern American art, nurtured groundbreaking artists when audiences were still largely preoccupied with the Old Masters. From her vision arose the Whitney Museum of American Art, which has been championing the most innovative art of the United States for ninety years. The core of the Whitney’s mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and exhibit American art of our time and serve a wide variety of audiences in celebration of the complexity and diversity of art and culture in the United States. Through this mission and a steadfast commitment to artists, the Whitney has long been a powerful force in support of modern and contemporary art and continues to help define what is innovative and influential in American art today.
