SAG Awards 2021: Award Winners and Fashions

The SAG Awards 2021 kicked off Sunday night, filled with star affair. As other award shows this season, the 27th SAG Awards was virtual. But the virtual showing didn’t take away from the celebration. Instead, it served as a safe way to honor some of the most anticipated shows and films of the year. But, there was no red carpet this year. Instead, the backgrounds of homes and yards made it all the more relatable. The SAG Awards 2021 was only one hour, but it made an impact on those nominated and viewers alike. Here are some of the sweeps and fashion hits of this year’s award show.

The coveted “Judas and the Black Messiah” also brought home a top award. Actor Daniel Kaluuya secured the win for “Outstanding Supporting Role” as well. With these four actors, the leading and supportive awards were each won by an actor of color. Now, fans await to see how they will fair for the Oscars.

The other big winners this year included featured styles. Despite the virtual show, actors still sported high fashion. Helen Mirren stunned in her color-blocking number with full sleeves. Journee Smollett also looked like the belle of the virtual ball in her high-low Zuhair Murad gown. But everyone didn’t sport bright colors. Some actors like “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan made a statement. She graced our screens in a victorian-inspired dress, complete with black sleeves and ruffles.

But the ladies weren’t the only ones dressed for the occasion. Many actors wore printed suits. Daveed Diggs and Aldis Hodge both appeared in printed suits, accented in shades of gold. But some stars brought other eye-catching looks to the virtual show. Leslie Odom Jr. appeared in a matching turtleneck and suit—complete with ombré effects.
