Let’s Get Digital: Fashion Icons With Fern Mallis

Despite the ending of this year’s New York Fashion Week, the world of fashion doesn’t have to end yet. Instead, it lives on with Fern Mallis. As the founder of NYFW, her expertise is held in the highest regard. So, it’s no wonder she’s the go-to figure in the industry. With her new digitized series, “Fashion Icons: The Archives”, everyone can get their style fix.

Fashion Icons, The Hardcover Guide

“Fashion Icons With Fern Mallis” began as a novel in 2015. The fashion-filled book is known for high-profile guests from the industry. These included Tom Ford, Vera Wang, and Oscar de la Renta. But the content was just as lucrative. Mallis provided photographs and in-depth interviews with well-known fashion designers. Readers learned from Mallis herself what it was like in this realm of fashion. “Fashion Icons With Fern Mallis” provided accessibility to luxury designers. But now, the inside scoop can be learned for free.

The Digital Blueprint

Mallis turned her ever-popular book into a web series. “Fashion Icons: The Archives” brings her book to life. According to her website, the series features candid conversations between Mallis and her guests. Not only will interviews cover the “how-to’s” of the field, but the background of these designers. In her interview with Christian Siriano, they recounted his childhood influences.

But, “Fashion Icons: The Archives” isn’t limited to exclusive interviews. The series includes “From the Archive” and “The Edit”— two additions to the series. “From the Archive,” highlights limited-time runs of Fashion Icon conversations, as well as new behind-the-scenes stories from the 92Y stage, according to Fern Mallis. Meanwhile, “The Edit” provides monthly digital shorts starring these icons. Plus, it’ll include the shared journeys of many designers. So far, the first icons include Siriano, Eileen Fisher, and Bethann Hardison.

“Fashion Icons: The Archives” is available now through the 92nd Street Y YouTube account.
