The Best U.S. Trips to Celebrate Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. So, everyone’s prepared to buy some of the best gifts. Jewelry, perfume, and of course the obligatory bouquet. But presents aren’t the only thing that shows your appreciation. Great food and trips could also be part of your Mother’s Day. In American cities, there’s plenty of sights to see to make this holiday memorable. From the East to the West coasts, your mother will enjoy the adventure. Not to mention, many attractions have opened within the last year. So, where will you be sending your mom on her special day?

New York City

This year, celebrate your mother with a picnic in Central Park. Pre-made baskets could be ordered online, but a custom basket filled with her favorite treats might be more personal. It’s also prime time to enjoy the seasonal cherry blossom trees. Indulging in afternoon tea at a nearby parlor or restaurant is an experience that won’t break the bank. New York is known as the city that never sleeps and this Mother’s Day would be no different. But when you do decide to crash, make sure you rest at the SoHo Grand Hotel. The chic hotel offers sights of Manhattan while surrounded by notable fashion stores like Bloomingdale’s.

Los Angeles

What trip could be complete without a visit to LA? If your mother is the type who enjoys the outdoors, hiking is the best activity to honor her. The Griffith Observatory remains closed but trails like Firebreak Trail are a sure way to ensure views of the city. You might even see the famous Hollywood sign along the way. If your mom is obsessed with all things celebrity, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a staple. Or, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum will make you feel like you’re meeting your favorite stars. But when you want to relax, check out a nearby winery. California is known for its vineyards. So wine tasting is sure to be worthwhile.

Chicago

Chicago has two major staples: its food scene and its waterfront. So why not treat mom to both? A brunch cruise brings the cuisine with sights along the Chicago River. While dining, customers also get to experience Chicago’s architecture. But the day on the water doesn’t have to end yet. You could also sign up for riverfront photoshoots. A professional photographer will help memorialize the special day. If anyone wants to see the architecture up close, Cloud Gate aka The Bean is a popular choice. The iconic sculpture captures visitors’ attention, just like the city.

Miami

Miami is the destination for all things fun. This year, Mother’s Day can also be made enjoyable in the Florida heat. Bypass the crowded Miami Beach. Instead, check out the Miami Design District. This neighborhood is renowned for its contemporary artwork. Within the district is also museums and local eateries. If your mom loves all things fashion, it’s complete with some of the biggest luxury fashion houses. But the trip doesn’t have to start and end here. Nearby is the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The Italian-inspired architecture stands out with its Mediterranean touches. The orchids outlining the estate add a floral pop of color.

Washington, D.C.

Celebrating a history buff? If your mother loves learning about American roots, D.C. is the place to be. Some of their notable museums are currently open. Even more will open in May, just in time for Mother’s Day. A rooftop bar or restaurant could also be the best of both worlds— beautiful sights and on-theme. The infamous Watergate Hotel offers a dining experience overlooking the Kennedy Center. The excitement only gets better as the sun goes down. The Monuments by Moonlight Tour offers sights of the capital only lit by the city lights.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas is the obvious choice for bachelor/bachelorette parties. But if the bright lights don’t match your ideal Mother’s Day, the city provides alternatives. The Venitian offers comfort beyond belief with its Canyon Ranch Spa. Along with massages include facials, citrus scrubs, and even lunch. To top it off, end the night dining at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. The French cuisine will make you feel as if you’re in another country. If that’s not enough, the backdrop of an Eiffel Tower surely will.
