The Blonds are known for their over-the-top designs loved by Miley Cyrus and Beyonce alike. If you’re just focused on the clothes though, you may be missing one very important element, the nails. While for many designers the nails are an after thought, The Blonds treat them as jewelry accentuating the collection.
CND’s Jan Arnold and her team are always pushing boundaries of what you can do with polish and acrylic powder to create masterpieces worthy of their own show. This season, to complement The Blonds Egyptian theme, Arnold designed 25 different sets.
It took her team of 9 people over 600 hours to complete the manicures which consisted of scarabs named Fred and Fernando made from acrylic powder and filled with Swarovski crystals. Also included were turquoise multifaceted multidimensional nails that look like gem stones and dramatic feathered manicures which when put together form wings so the model can “fly down the runway.”
Our favorite had to be the intricate little sarcophaguses which open to reveal tiny mummies decked out in Phillipe Blond’s real hair; this set alone took over 100 hours. However, not all of the sets are over the top, many are quite wearable, such as a crystal ombre set which graduated both the color and size of crystal down the nail.
CND and The Blonds are all about creating unbelievable wearable art that’s exciting and fun. Inspiring creativity, these nails will have you ready to try out an ancient Egyptian style mani. Not ready for mummies on your nails? Pay homage to the design by focusing on the luxe golds, gems and opulence the collection exudes.
